In Memory

David Borrud

David Albert Borrud, 58, Williston, died Saturday afternoon, Dec. 18, 2010, at the Mercy Medical Center in Williston.

Cremation has taken place and there will be a memorial service held at a later date.

Honoring his generous wish, the gift of life was shared with many people in need through organ and tissue donation.

David Albert Borrud was born on Aug. 14, 1952, to Albert and Mary Borrud in Williston.

He was baptized and confirmed in the First Lutheran Church in Williston and graduated from Williston High School in 1970. He spent several years in the family owned business of Borrud's Bakery. He then went on to graduate from the University of North Dakota School of Nursing and was a Licensed Practical Nurse at the Mercy Hospital in Williston. He went on to further his education and career as a community home counselor for the North West Human Service Center in Williston until the center was closed. David's most recent employment was an administrative scan clerk for inventory control at Albertson's in Williston and considered his co-workers like a second family.

On Aug. 3, 1977, David was united in marriage to Nettie Harmon of Williston. To this union, their two sons were born. Two of the proudest days of his life.

David was an active member of the 6th Infantry and participated in re-enactments and parades. David's great interest in the history of western North Dakota gave him so much pleasure, especially his involvement with Fort Buford where he contributed historical artifacts to the Fort Buford Museum and the N.D. State Historical Museum in Bismarck.

David recently announced his engagement to Martha Krueger. A wonderful union of soul-mates to be cut short.

David will always be fondly remembered for his many stories and laughs with family, friends, and co-workers. He loved to spend time with his family, especially those family reunions and picnics which were some of the highlights of his life. His compassion and positive attitude will be greatly missed.

David is survived by his fiancée, Martha Krueger, Williston; sons, Nathan David Borrud and Bryan James Borrud, Fargo; mother, Mary Borrud, Williston; sister, Debra Borrud, Chandler, Ariz.; three brothers, Tom Borrud and his wife Diana, Brier, Wash., Tim Borrud, Gilbert, Ariz., and Darryl Borrud, Williston; three grandchildren, Austyn and Cayley Borrud, Fargo and Nolan Borrud, Fargo; niece, Jane Nicole Borrud-Errebo, Chandler, Ariz., niece and nephew, Allison and Andrew Borrud, Brier.

David's father was a baker in Williston and his uncle Chester Borrud MD worked in a clinical practive with my father John Jamieson MBChB.  I didn't live far from David.  We shared an interest in Star Trek.  A few times I would go over to David's and watch a few shows with him.  Once in a while I run into his cousin Aleisha who is a physician where i work.
