Alan Amsterberg

Alan Amsterberg, 57, Dickinson formerly of Williston, died Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2008, at MedCenter One, Bismarck following a short battle with cancer.

Alan s funeral service will be  at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 23, 2008, at the First Congregational/United Church of Christ with the Rev. James Hessler officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Veterans Drill Team following the service.Visitation is one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.

Alan Amsterberg was born Aug. 23, 1950, at Williston, the son of Howard and Edith (Marcuson) Amsterberg. He was raised and educated in Williston. Alan served honorably in the United States Army in Viet Nam from 1970 to 1971 and upon his discharge he returned to Williston.

Alan married Diane Iverson on May 4, 1974, in Williston. They lived in Williston until 1992, when they moved to Dickinson. While in Williston, he worked as a carpet and other flooring installer. When they moved to Dickinson, Alan went to work for Killdeer Mountain Manufacturing, where he was working at the time of his death.

In his spare time, he enjoyed going fishing and will always be remembered as willing to lend a hand to others.

Alan is survived by his wife, Diane; their two sons, Darin Amsterberg and Ryan Amsterberg, both of Mandan; one sister, Dona (Barry) Forsberg, Williston; and one niece, Keely Forsberg, Williston.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
